Orientation begins

On January 8, 2025, Ungweru Organisation conducted a safeguarding orientation for 17 computer and Tailoring students from the skills Acquisition Unit in Ungweru Hall. The session aimed to build awareness around safeguarding , encouraging safe reporting of concerns, and promoting eco-conscious living.

During the orientation, one of the facilitators, Taonga. J. Gondwe, Safeguarding Officer at Ungweru Organisation, emphasised the importance of awareness and reporting in preventing abuse. She highlighted that safeguarding is a collective responsibility and encouraged students to speak up if they witness or experience any form of abuse.

“When awareness rises, silence breaks and abuse loses its power. This simple yet powerful message resonates with our mission to create safe space for all,” Gondwe said.

Nessie Mbanda, Head Tutor for the Skills Acquisition Unit, stressed on the role of students in maintaining a safe earning environment. She encouraged students o be vigilant and report any concerns to the authorities.

“Empowerment comes with responsibility. Lets work together to safeguard our community,” Mbanda said.
