ABOUT UNGWERU’S YOUTH DEVELOPMENT UNIT
The Youth Development Unit (YDU) of Ungweru Organisation offers Human Development, Peace-Building and Justice Programmes for the positive formation and development of youth and young adults in the society. The YDU empowers young people to make informed choices and become agents of positive change.
Job Purpose
The Youth Programs Assistant will support the coordination, administration, and implementation of youth development programs targeting young adults within the Youth Development Unit. This role bridges field-based program facilitation with essential administrative and financial tracking to ensure smooth operations across multiple initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
• Program Implementation & Support: Assist in the delivery and day-to-day coordination of core unit programs. This includes planning, facilitation, Knowledge management and evaluations of activities within the unit.
• Financial & Administrative Accountability: Support in managing project expenses, tracking budgets, and ensuring all physical receipts and financial transactions are systematically documented and reconciled.
• Stakeholder & Community Engagement: Assist in coordinating workshops, engaging community committees, and preparing structural frameworks or budgets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the YDU and other unit teams in supporting joint initiatives. This can be unit activities or activities within other units
• Reporting: Assist in gathering data and drafting field reports to maintain high institutional transparency for the unit.

Qualifications & Experience
• A Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Youth Work, Project Management, or a related social science discipline.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in youth development, life skills facilitation, or human development frameworks.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage paperwork, track logistical expenses, and prevent administrative gaps.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills for community and stakeholder engagement.
• Prior experience as a high-performing volunteer or facilitator within peer-driven youth programs (such as the SELL program) is highly desirable.
