Elifa Mtambalika, a determined young woman from Mzuzu, is stitching her way to a brighter future thanks to Ungweru Organization’s Tailoring, Fashion, and Design Program. The six-month vocational training has equipped her with essential skills, opening doors to new opportunities in the fashion industry.
“Before joining this program, I had no stable income and struggled to support myself,” Elifa shared. “Now, I can design and sew my own clothes, and even take orders from customers. This training has given me hope and a way to earn a living.”
Ungweru Organization’s initiative aims to empower individuals like Elifa by providing hands-on training in tailoring and fashion design. The program not only enhances employability but also fosters entrepreneurship, enabling graduates to start their own businesses.

“Learning this trade has changed my life,” Elifa added with a smile. “I no longer depend on others—I can create my own opportunities and build a better future for my family.”
With her newfound skills, Elifa plans to establish a small tailoring business, joining a growing number of graduates making waves in Mzuzu’s fashion scene. Ungweru Organization continues to transform lives, one stitch at a time.
