About The project
Ungweru Organisation received funding from AmplifyChange to implement INSPIRE- Inclusive SRHR Programming through Information, Rights and Empowerment; a two-year project on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The project aims to catalyse a shift toward a healthier, better-informed and more empathetic generation of young people by 2028. INSPIRE is rooted in the belief that when adolescents and youth are equipped with accurate information, supportive spaces, and positive role models, they are better positioned to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The project is run in six secondary schools and five youth clubs across Traditional Authorities Zilakoma, Fukamapiri and Malanda, as well as Sub Traditional Authority Chiweyu in Nkhata Bay District.
The challenge
The project is responding to limited youth friendly SRHR services, cultural norms and stigma, low community and parental engagement on children/youth access to SRHR, Inadequate children/youth participation in SRHR advocacy, and limited safe spaces where SRHR issues are discussed.
Stakeholders discussing SRHR challenges in the community, focusing on youth-friendly services and advocacy.
