Ungweru’s Lusekero School of Computing held an orientation for newly registered students at the organization’s hall, today on the 17th October, 2024 around 12pm lunchtime.
The orientation was held with the aim of introducing the newly registered students (of which 21 are female and 11 are male) to the services and programs which the organization offers.
During the orientation, the Executive Director, Mr. Samuel Phiri, had assured the students that Ungweru has well qualified tutors.
“There isn’t a single module or computer concept which our tutors can’t handle. You should thus be assured that by the end of this program you will gain skills which will enable you to handle anything related to end-user computing as will be listed on your certificate”, said Phiri.
The director also highlighted to the students that their goal should not be to pass theoretical exams but rather they should strive to demonstrate practically the skills they have learnt.
“This is a skills acquisition program. If your certificate says you can do PowerPoint, you should be able do that”, said Mr. Phiri.
The students were also oriented on safeguarding. Taonga Gondwe who is the Safeguarding Officer had assured the students that Ungweru has structures in place to ensure the students are protected and are safe from abuse, neglect and exploitation.
The newly registered students are expected to learn 9 modules for the next 8 weeks. These modules include Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, PowerPoint, Internet, Computer Theory, Communication and Entrepreneurship.
