Executive Director
Samuel Lastone Phiri is a visionary and seasoned development leader with extensive experience in agriculture, logistics, and organisational management. He is considerate and highly accomodative in his leadership approach. He holds a Diploma in Agriculture and a BSc in Agribusiness Management, and spent the majority of his professional career in South Africa before joining Ungweru Organisation as Executive Director in 2017. He is currently studying a Master`s in Education Policy, Management and Leadership with the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He is passionate about sustainable livelihoods and inclusive development. Samuel leads Ungweru Organisation with a strong commitment to accountability, innovation, and people centred progress

Noel Daire Kumwenda
Programs Manager
Mr. Noel Daire Kumwenda, Ungweru’s Programs Manager, holds a degree in Economics from Africa University, Zimbabwe. He brings to Ungweru vast experience working with international organizations in Kenya, Sierra Leone and Malawi, in areas of Project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation in key thematic areas of Education, Environmental justice, Nutrition and food security, Human
rights and good governance.

Newman Chinsapo is a dynamic Communication Officer with expertise in strategic communications, advocacy, and digital media. He holds a BA in Communication Studies from Mzuzu University. Newman boasts an array of skills in content creation, graphic designing, PR, and campaign management and has proven experience in driving brand visibility and social impact through innovative communication strategies.

Kelvin Walinase Zimba, working under the Livelihoods Unit, holds a BSc iin Gender and Development from LUANAR. He is a dedicated individual with a strong passion for community development. Kelvin approaches his work through a gendered lens encouraging quality through equity and striving to uplift marginalised groups. He runs projects with pride, commitment, and a deep sense of purpose and is ambitious about creating lasting, community-driven change through sustainable development initiatives.

Chipiliro Laurent Chiwaula
Access to Justice Coordinator
Chipiliro Laurent Chiwaula holds a Bachelor Degree as well Diploma in Financial Accounting, serves as the Access to Justice Coordinator, providing strategic leadership to initiatives that strengthen justice systems, promote legal empowerment, and ensure that vulnerable groups have meaningful access to their rights, he oversees a broad portfolio of programs designed to enhance fairness, accountability, and community engagement within the justice sector. His vast experience from managing projects funded by major international and national partners, including USAID, UNICEF, and Catholic Aid for Overseas Development (CAFOD), the National AIDS Commission (NAC), and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.

Taonga J. Gondwe is a safeguarding practitioner with three year of experience as Ungweru’s Safeguarding Officer for the Youth Development Unit. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Languages) from Mzuzu University and a certificate in Cosmology and Spirituality (Care for the Earth) from Tairseach Organic Farm and Ecology Centre, Ireland. Her environmental training strengthens her commitment to promoting eco-concious living within youth and community programmes. She supports Ungweru by reviewing safeguarding policies, conducting child and vulnerable-adult, safeguarding trainings, developing training materials and monitoring safeguarding practices to ensure community awareness on protection, safety, and rights. With solid experience in youth training and mentorship across Malawi, she champions human development programmes.
