In a commendable initiative, Ungweru Organization recently conducted an orientation session for the newly enrolled students in its Skills Acquisition Unit. The session, held in the organization’s hall, marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the first cohort of students in 2024.
The orientation that took place on the 16th of January 2024, commenced at 2:30 pm, brought together students and heads of various units within Ungweru Organization. A pivotal aspect of the awareness campaign focused on environmental responsibility, urging students to play an active role in safeguarding the planet.
One key takeaway was the emphasis on waste separation. Students were encouraged to conscientiously dispose of waste by segregating plastics and decomposable materials into separate bins. This small yet impactful action aligns with Ungweru’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly environment within its premises.
Furthermore, participants were enlightened about Ungweru’s safeguarding policy, reinforcing a culture of safety and well-being. The importance of reporting any safeguarding breaches was underscored, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to creating a secure and supportive learning environment.
Looking ahead, Ungweru Organization has scheduled a Safeguarding input on February 23rd, with a special visit to the modern farming center of Mzuzu Diocese on 10th May. The aim is to enhance the capacity of team members in the production of briquettes and liquid manure. This collaborative effort between Ungweru Organization and Mzuzu Diocese exemplifies the power of partnerships in driving positive change.
Ungweru Organization’s commitment extends beyond its immediate community. On January 8th, the organization actively participated in a tree planting exercise at the Mzuzu Diocese Educational Ecology Centre. This marked the commencement of the tree planting season for 2024, reflecting their dedication to environmental sustainability.
As the first cohort of 2024 embarks on their skills acquisition journey, Ungweru Organization sets a commendable precedent by instilling values of environmental stewardship and safeguarding. This multifaceted approach not only enriches the students’ learning experience but also contributes to the broader goal of creating responsible and conscious citizens. The upcoming Safeguarding input and collaborative projects further emphasize Ungweru’s dedication to holistic education and sustainable practices.
